hi,

Another unusual coin that I found while noodling .
what possibly happen with this 50c coin?
Anyone please help me to explain what kind variety/error it is? or is it just another type of PMD? and how they do it? thank you.

Looks to me like something very corrosive, but I am not sure.

This is probably the worst one of these I have ever seen. They are usually in good condition due to being horded.

I worked in a road house cafe for a while a few years ago and saw some badly damaged coins (maybe not quite so bad as this one) handed over by truck drivers. Truckies often throw coins in their truck ashtray or into many other unsavoury places within their cabin, or use them for any number of short stop measures while on the road. Looks like this one could have been used to fill a gap on a loose/broken battery terminal.

... Just joking about being used on the battery terminal. But it is still probable that it came into contact with any number of corrosive agents if it came from a truckie or mechanic etc.

final conclusion.......corrosive.
