Both are worth keeping.

I don't know anything about notes, but the odds of that number coming up in that format and with zero and nines in that order should make it special. Are you a troll

The 10c is only going to cost you 10c to keep.

If the note's in above VF condition (or at least nice) it's nice to put aside as a pale $5 polymer which are hard to find in circulation now.
In the 2011 Vort Report (out of 5,000 ($5) notes) it was stated that none were in circulation. I've found maybe half a dozen in a few years, but I wasn't actually noodling for them.

Is 000999 considered a low serial in Autralian currency ? 0000999 would be considered so in our current Canadian currency, but we have 7 digit serials instead of 6(if you don't count the two first numbers, which can refer to the year of issue, but in this case I'm not sure what it refers to. Can anyone enlighten me on this ?).

Nope, for a note to be a repeater note there has to be a sequence that keeps repeating itself. For exemple, 589589 would be a repeater note. Other examples would be 999999 or 000000, but that would also make them many other things ;)

to CCF. I find the $5 SN to be an interesting number and would keep it. What condition is it in? You may want to put it in a sleeve. The die crack would have to be pretty major to be a keeper, IMHO. Photos of both would be nice to see. As far as a low SN, I personally consider anything under 1000.

Some call numbers like this semi solid but IMO it is just an interesting number ,i'd keep it if I came across it.
I won't get up on that high horse ( with my luck of late i'd probably fall off it LOL ) about Semi & Near tonight as I think most here know my opinion on that LOL/

The 10 cent would also be a keeper, pics would be good though.

I don't mean to start a debate, but would you agree that the less digits a serial has, the more chance you have to find what we refer to as a "low" serial. I mean, I can totally understand that for modern US currency, which has 8 digit serials, it is rather rare to come across a serial under 1000. However, I'm not sure if we could say the same about currencies which have less digits, like 4, 5 or even 6. This is why I'm wondering if we can call 000999 a low serial.

You've found one of the early undated Fraser/Cole polymers issued in 1992, with a low serial number.

The biggest surprise is that it was [still/put back] in circulation.

The fewer digits there are the lower the SN needs to be to be considered low. On a US note (I) consider less then 1000 as low. Of course the lower the SN the better.

Sorry I completely forgot to mention the serial number. A nice low serial & at the same time also what some call a semi-solid serial. To find that in circulation, my assumption would be maybe someone did hoard it for a while & then let it go. Generally if you find a original colour $5 note it's either just about past it's useable status or nice enough (VF or above) to keep.

Since we are on to low serial numbers, there are a few on ebay. This guy has a couple of very low numbers & is a good seller to deal with, bit of a shame about the condition though.

appleangel07:

Is that a good price considering their condition? Personally, I would consider them a good deal at that price only if they are UNC.
