The three other coins, along with the Istros Wheel, I picked up at a coin show last week .

A little bronze version of the larger, silver Tets of Antiochus I.
New-Coins-......three-Greek-Bronzes
Seleucid Kingdom. Antiochus I, 280-261 BC. AE 16mm (3.20 gm). Obv.: Diademed head of Antiochus right. Rev.: BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANTIOXOY, naked Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, monogram left field

A pretty nice coin from Carthage with Tanit. Excellent engraving of a horse on this one I think.
New-Coins-......three-Greek-Bronzes
Zeugitania. Carthage. Ae 22mm 8.2g C. 218-201 BC.
Obv; Wreathed head of Tanit left, Rev; Horse standing right head turned back; palmette standard behind.

Have you ever bought a coin then kinda wish you would picked a different one? It looks good in hand, but on closer examination there are a couple of things about it I don't care for.

THRACE: Lysimachos. 323-281 B.C. AE 14, 2.8g Obv: Young male head r. in crested Athenian helmet / Rev: BASILEWS LUSIMACOU Forepart of lion r, A/O monogram in l. field. Spear-head beneath lion.

There is nothing to add but that the photos are nice, too.

All nice coins. How do you change the background color black?

Thanks Doug, I owe a good part to you from your web site.

I don't have a program to change the background, I just shoot on a black book (soon to be black velvet) with the coin elevated 3/4 in.

But the way to make it dark black is by putting a 2 in. x 3/4 in. tall black ring around the coin, which kills the light within the ring around the coin. I got the idea from Doug Smith's site about coin photgraphy. http://www.forumancientcoins.com/do...2011ez3.html

With my set up as you can see sometimes a little light gets in and when you put them side by side you can see the difference. I,m working on that.

Great photos and nice detail on all 3!
I especially like the Carthagian coin--I haven't found one yet for a good price.
For some reason, bidding gets really high on those coins.

Thanks Jess, stevex6 and DVC.

I may try to find some others from Carthage.
