Hi, recently I came across a 2005 Kansas State Quarter that was in a collection that I inherited from my grandfather. He would go to the bank every time a new quarter was scheduled to come out and get some, so they don't have any wear on them - but this certain one has what I believe to be an error on it.

On the back side of the quarter where the bison is, instead of "KANSAS" on the top it only says, "NSAS". I don't have access to a camera that can take a picture well focused in on something that small yet but when I do I will take a picture and post it on here. But the picture isn't really needed since that is the only thing that is wrong with it. And also, what would something like that be valued?

Thank you so much!

Its hard to tell without a picture, but it sounds like it may be a Grease Filled Die. I had a similar Kansas Quarter that said, In God We rust, instead of In God We Trust.

to CCF. I agree with a Grease Filled Die. I think it might have a small premium. Check sold prices on e-Bay on Grease Filled Dies.

Thanks for the information guys. Here is a scan I took this morning. I can definitely see some wear to the coin now, so I don't think it would be considered uncirculated, but you can clearly see the "NSAS".

Also, would this still be considered an "uncirculated" coin? Thanks!

There's a lot of missing detail from the Grease Filled Die, so it can be hard to tell if it's uncirculated based on a scan.

I have another picture of it as well, but it's almost identical to the above one. Even though, I can post it if needed. Any opinions at all are very helpful. Thank you again! :)

Very nice Grease Filled Die coin.

The silver photo shows a lot of bag marks on it. It is hard to tell if there is wear on it though.

How does the obverse look?

Very nice find and definitely a keeper.
