The Lincoln-Kennedy thing is not a mint product. They were produced by an outside company that stamped a picture of Kennedy into a cent. No numismatic value, but you might be able to sell it as a curiosity for a buck or so.

Problem: If you take it out of the roll, you can no longer prove it is a '99 D. If it was somewhere in the roll, and not on the ends, you would never be able to prove that it even existed.
Sometimes, our Legal System works like that! Life's like that.

Yes, you have a type of planchet, year is insignificant. As mentioned you have a There are two basic types of blank planchets.Type 1 is flat and has not yet been rolled to create a raised rim, and Type 2 has the raised rim. I stumbled across this informative NGC page all about blank planchets and it describes the first stages of the coin making process nicely. If you own a recent " Red Book" A guide book of United States coins, towards the back is a section on Misstrikes and Errors and a description again of the blank planchets. Further on you'll see a general value guide where it lists your blank type 1 Lincoln (zinc) as having a value of $2.50 and a type 2 at $3.50, which seems close enough, so I suppose the type two with the raised rims are more desirable. I'd like to own a wartime nickel or a silver dollar blank planchet. Those are quite expensive.

That's interesting. I always got a little more for the type one blank than the type two planchet. Figured it was more difficult for just the blank to get out of the mint and into circ. The coppers are getting rarer also.

Very nice find. You don't see them that often in circulation. A few years ago, I bought a bunch of them, off of ebay, for $1 apiece.
