So the facts stand as follows:

1) The Carson City Mint wasn't even around in 1817.
2) There were no Trade dollars minted in 1817.
3) There were no dollars AT ALL minted in 1817.

And even if you assume that the counterfeiter *meant* "1871" (yar har har) it'd still be a number of years before Trade dollars even began.

Naive counterfeiters. Bless them. :-)

As I mentioned in previous threads, the CC stands for China Crap... Anyone knowing coins wouldn't have to look at this coin (not) had they been informed it was a American 1817 CC anything...

"a fool and his money are soon parted" the ONLY way I would buy a Trade dollar would be in a slab (hopefully the slab isn't fake) LOL
