Hey Mike- just you wait until Terry gets you hooked on Euros! I've taken to skulking around stalking the mailman when I know a package is coming! I think the poor guy is scared of me now. And what does that poor cat in your avatar have on its head? That's funny!

I took a look at the feedback of the seller for the live auctions and would not recommend this seller. With the low feedback rating, I expected to see a lot of buyers who didn't read the auction that states the 20% commission added to the final price. What I found were a lot of what appeared to be deserved negatives for non-shipment, not honoring the winning bid, very slow shipping, and an accounting error (the error was not for 20% of the final bid).

Here is one of my favourites from a "downunder" .....The Kilomasterpiece minted for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Described as "Coin of the Centuary" at the 2000 World Money Fair in Basel, Switzerland, this pure silver one kilogram coin is stunning. The reverse incorporates all the 28 sports contested at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and is a true work of art. With a diameter of 100mm,it is awesome to behold or to hold in your hand. Mintage of this coin is only 20,000 for world wide consumption. Here is a scan of the reverse side...but a word of warning, it is a big gif and may be bothersome for those with slow connections.

Have a Look

Welcome to the forum lim118. We're just a little "behind" around here! As you probably know Australia is well represented on this forum and for that we are glad. If you want to know what's going on "yesterday", drop us a line! LOL, Mike

A little math on the "Kilomasterpiece Sydney Olympic Commemmorative Coin" (The name almost matchs it's size!) One Kilo = 2.2 Pounds x 16 Oz = 35.2 Oz @ about $7.00 American per Oz = $246.00 @ melt!!!What does this big boy sell for considering its limited production?

Here is another of my favorites...the bi-metal Gregorian $20 Proof issued to commemerate the third millennium under our reformed Gregorian calendar by Pope Gregory X111 in 1582. It looks like a modern day watch showing 8.00am here in Western Australia when it is 0.00 GMT. It also depicts the three phases of our planet as it circles around the sun. The border of this coin is 99.9 gold and the inner circle is 99.9 silver. Mintage of ths issue is only 7,500.

Check it Out
Rest in Peace

lim118, another stunning coin! Again, what does a work of art like that sell for, and with that low of a mintage is it even available? Thanks for posting the beautiful photos! What is depicted on the reverses of these coins? (assuming I am correctly refering to the depicted side as being the Obverse) Mike
