Does anyone subscribe to Coinage Magazine? I've been a subscriber for the last 8 years and enjoyed their regular feature "Coin Capsule" last fall they stopped the feature and the magazine has become well uh...boring.
When I e-mailed the company this was their reply:
quote:
Our "Coin Capsule" writer is indefinitely unable to write for us. That feature was his baby, so to speak, so we 1) want to make sure he's OK with us giving it to another writer, and 2) need to find the right person.
Everyone, both readers and editors alike, misses it. Thank you for taking the time to let us know you feel the same.

What's confusing me was that in the beginning of every mag is the editors comments. He never made mention of it. I don't know if there was some bad blood but they could've at least thanked the writer for his years of contribution. Doesn't sound too professional.

I got a subscription for my son and myself for Christmas. I don't know what I'm missing since I didn't see the feature that you are referring to. At this point, I enjoy the magazine and I've learned a few things from some of the articles.

It was a historical piece for a given year. The feature would flip from something historic going on that year to something about coins that year. I do have some old back issues, I'll list the coin capsule years I have and if you want one then PM me and I'll shoot you the article:

1807 Capsule
1854 Capsule
1855 Capsule
1861 Capsule
1874 Capsule
1883 Capsule
1884 Capsule
1925 Capsule
2001 Capsule
2002 Capsule
1822 Capsule
1885 Capsule

I didn't notice. Did John Iddings do all of these?

He is an excellent writer.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Yep! That was John Iddings . Coinage is still an o.k. mag its just that John's feature differentiated it from the rest of the coin periodicals.
