thankyou. Some, I never heard of, and that's why I ALWAYS click on BigFred's threads, to broaden my mind.
However, two of the items in the link are just wrong, incorrect, erroneous, and to that extent misleading.

9. THE CRICKET PITCH
This unit of measurement makes sense if you read the name and you know what cricket pitch is. A cricket pitch is about 22 yards in length, so the unit cricket pitch represents 22 yards. I do not know why anyone would bother coming up with this unit; maybe a big fan of cricket.

A cricket pitch is 22-yards long - correct.
But 22-yards is exactly one chain, which is an almost-obsolete unit of measurement of land.
10 chains = 1 furlong.
10 square chains = 1 acre.
8 furlongs = 1 mile

When I was a kid, we had to know all that stuff. I was glad when Australia went metric in 1974.

4. THE CARAT
You must be aware of this term at least. You know how you hear 22 carat gold or 24 carat gold. I can bet that most of you out there don't even know what carat is. You only know that higher the carat number, higher the value but that's not all there is to it. A Carat is actually equal to one fifth of a gram. This is the precise weight of carob bean which was a nature's gift to ancient humans because it made it easier for them to measure. Well, now you know.

Carats, in relation to gold, is a measure of purity. 24K being pure gold. British gold coins are 22K, which is the same as 91.66%.

Carats, in relation to diamonds, is a measure of mass, and equals 200 mg.

A cricket pitch is exactly one (1) chain in length
A chain has a length of 100 links.
A 'link' has a length of exactly 7.92 inches.
Hope this helps.

So five 1-carat diamonds weighs 1 gram? Somehow, that seems really light.

To correct your correction, Karats is the measure of purity. Whole different word.

Diamonds are light for their size, it's one way to tell fakes:

Diamonds can be easily distinguished frim Cubic Zirconia.

Diamonds conduct electricity and heat. CZ does not. Simple probes gently pressed onto either side of a suspect stone quickly show the differences.
