Can you tell me if this cent was coated with something . I can see some type of damage running horizontal behind the ear. . and a raised vertical line below the ear.

Looks like old gold paint. By the ear might be a die clash.

It looks like someone was trying to make it look like one of the gold indian head's, like he said^ gold paint.

Looks like paint. You could try soaking it in acetone, and see if lifts off.
