Back from vacation and got some great looking finds:

Really nice 1939 from a circulation roll:

Check out the reverse detail and steps

I know this 71 is more modern, but I couldn't believe the great condition from a circ roll.

And full steps to boot

The 83 is not too bad, PMD and rash on the cheekbone but great detail

Nice coins, Philly 39 is a ty 2 reverse of 1940, the most common Phila reverse and the steps were improved sometime in 1939, hence they call them the reverse of 1940.
Since it is not BU it really doesn't make much difference except for being a better AU 39 than the next but still ... nice.
The 1971 D is not too big of a deal since it is another reworked reverse that year from the tired dies of the late 60's and 1970. It is fairly common but a nice one for your set if you want to fill a hole. They can be found nicer but I like it and I would keep it too.
1982 and 1983 P&D Jeffersons are pretty tough to find BU without issues, the steps are usually at best like yours and I see a lot of die polishing scratches on yours pictured. Still don't throw an 83 nickel back, they don't show up so often.

Nickel Guy, if I have a bunch of 83's in AU condition, what type of prices could I expect per coin or for a roll? Thanks!
(Also what would a BU run?) Thanks!

I just always check the completed listings on ebay, which for stuff like this, is always a decent source for what something is worth and I figure to add in the cost of shipping as part of the value.
Lets see ....
Well I looked and there were no circulated purchases. I also noticed there were some with lots of steps but then, maybe that is why they were up for sale with hopes to get some premium prices.
I mean who is buying a 1983 P or D when there are so many other things to list.

My guess and only a guess is that a solid date of AU 1983 P or D nickels might get 10 bucks plus maybe a few dollars for shipping. Maybe they are worth 20 cents a pc. maybe up to a dollar shipped in a 2x2 in a simple 1st class envelope depending on how nice, I mean they'll have to fill a hole in a set and be good enough if someone is tired of looking for a nice one.

A BU range is kind of vast. I'll bet if you had a true MS 65 full stepper it would surprise you for either P or D and especially D.
I don't think $85 bucks is out of the question for something like that at all. Nuts huh? I know but check out PCGS .... It's one of the key full steppers in the recent years.

A typical MS63+ attractive one could be about $3.00 or $4.00.

Just my guesstimate, but I know how tough these 83's can be.

My daughter routinely gets 25-45 for aUNC/UNC rolls of the '83, abit less for the D.
Beautiful '82s are still doable from boxes, but few & far between.
