I have been looking at this 1935-S Texas Commemorative for a few weeks, stable price from seller ($150), less than Numismedia ($158) and PCGS Value ($155). It's a beautiful commemorative with nice tone, it is TPG'd, I need it for my 7070 (this would be my first commemorative half). My question is, What is holding me back? Just noticed...Austin's name is not well defined on the reverse under the left wing. Edited by oih82w8 04/25/2012 10:27 pm

Quote: What is holding me back? Me!! I just bought it, thanks for bringing it to my attention! Just kidding!! My favorite design on a classic commem though.

It appears you like the look of the coin, so if you feel the price is in the right range I think it might be time to pull the trigger!
I can't see the "Austin" details well enough in the scan to render a meaningful comment, but the coin appears to have a nice overall look without any major distracting marks. At the MS-63 level, strikes are not always the strongest so a little softness in some of the coin's details is not out of the norm.

It is a nice coin and the same date and mint I have for my commemorative collection. Pull the trigger as you really like it.

Since it is a good value and you like it, why not buy it?

My big dilemma is that I'm still holding out for my Trade dollar...dang. Nice Trade dollars are harder to find and commemoratives were not intended for circulation (although some did), therefore have better conditions available (for the most part). I need to put my ( Trade dollar) blinders back on after I picked up that 1877-CC dime last week.

Sounds like you knew the answer before you posted the question!

I have the "crab taste with ramen noodles budget". I have the money for the Texas Commemorative, but would have a little more over the next couple of weeks for the Trade dollar. I want it now, but I am going to hold-out for a few weeks for something better. Mid-life crisis anyone?

Sounds like a good decision to me. You can't go wrong holding out for something better.
By the way, congrats on 2,000 posts!

I probably should have stated that the money was burning a hole in my pocket and I saw a desirable coin that I could have " at this particular moment" in the OP. I guess I am getting..."older" and not as thorough in my thoughts before hitting the XMIT button. Yes, 2K posts

That makes sense to hold out and get the Trade dollar. They are tough to come by in nice grades. I bet that commem will be hanging out for a while, so it could still be there in a couple of months, in case you change your mind.
