Total mintage - 25,015. This strike appears a bit mushy to me and Calvert looks like he's been involved in a bar fight. Other than that, looks great

Many thanks for everyone's honest critiques. When the man-behind-the-curtain speaks (PCGS), I'll update all of these threads.

It looks like a pretty nice coin with some toning. It is hard to tell on the hair and high points on the reverse, if there is any wear or not, but I'll take a stab at the grade and say it can grade anywhere between AU-58 and MS-63. From the photos, it looks like an MS coin, but it is hard to tell.

Another nice coin, and another one that is difficult to grade based on the image. The reverse appears to be better preserved vs. the obverse, your comment about a "bar fight" might be the deciding factor in the coin's grade.

Do you know if the coin was housed in a soft plastic flip for a lengthy period? It could just be the images, but I'm seeing some greenish tint on Calvert's portrait and the figures on the reverse. I hope it's just an artifact of the image and not related to PVC exposure.

Can't wait to see how PCGS views all of your coins!

Catching up after way too many hours at work ...

I see no obvious signs of circulation wear ... and as suggested above the obverse suffers from some handling marks at major focal areas.

The uneven toning is a bit distracting to my eye ... and PCGS might penalize the coin for it.

I'll offer an opinion of PCGS MS63 ... assuming the coin is not body-bagged for potential PVC issues as wisely mentioned by commems.

Looking forward to your report when you get them all back. Best wishes on the grades.

David

No PVC exposure for at least 25 years, but that leaves 53 years unaccounted for. I imagine these coins would have a great story to tell if I weren't a mere Muggle, so I'll just use my imagination.

Coins received at PCGS for "regular" grading, however long that takes. Thanks again for your comments!

Thanks, everyone. I would have been happy with MS-63, so it's icing on the cake!
