1. iPhone picture, sorry
2. Still a newbie, pretty basic question

Purchased my first silver coin. I noticed what looks to be a small raised spot on the reverse shield. Is this just a bad coin or some sort of error? Kinda reminds me of how injected plastic items have the one little spot where the plastic went into the mold...

Probably a die chip. Some like them, others don't. I like nice coins in the earliest die state as they always smile for the camera.

so basically when I ordered the coin in the first 10 minutes that it was available, and then my order says in stock and reserved for a week, they were busy pumping out nice shiny coins for all the big businesses to get high grades and then sent me the scraps...

Starting to really hate trying to be a coin collector with how impossible it is to even get a shiny new coin...

It's kind of the luck of the draw. What stands out to us maybe acceptable to the mint. If you not happy with your coin you might see if you can return it?

I agree with Coop, probably a die chip.

I'd say the same but I don't own one yet lol. I'd send it back but the form says I need to return the entire order and there was another item that was a birthday gift to my nephew. Plus it's been 8 days now so I'm sol ;\ oh well, back to pennies for a while lol

In some ways yes and no.

When they make them they all go into the same batch so there really is no way to tell which coins were struck first and a lot of it is just the luck of the draw with which one you get.

That said I cannot say for sure that they dont have any agreements with certain high volume purchasers to give them nothing but early strikes or their coins before the public does
