I've figured out I need a microscope to really hunt for errors. I've done a little research and am considering this one: AmScope SE305R-PX-P http://store.amscope.com/se305r-px-p.html

Am I on track that for pictures I could use the usb camera and just do a screen capture?

Thanks.

If you want to lay that kind of money (which I think would be excessive), go for it. HOWEVER, there are several people here on the forum who have obtained satisfactory results with smaller, less expensive USB Microscopes. Here is an example of the S/S mint-mark on my 1875-S Twenty Cent Piece using my Dino-Lite USB microscope (there are several less expensive models available);

What model of Dinolite are you using?

Are they all hand held? Is that type of microsoft easy to use?

A lot of the USB microscopes are under $50.

The problem with low cost microscopes is they do not have any lighting control built in. The dino ones do but cost more. Also the low cost ones don't have a white balance.

I guess I will keeping my Dino-Lite afterall. I also like the static touch sensor trigger on the body, no fumbling around with the mouse to take images.
