Hi there I have a 1935 1D Penny from south Africa that looks petty good but has this discolouring or peeling (See Pics) I am wondering what makes this happen to a coin?
Excuse my lack of knowlege here as I am not a coin Collector Mum gave me these albums some time ago. There are a few coins that have the same problem. Hoping someone out there can. I'll keep an eye out for members respone

I agree with the discolouring, but not the peeling.

It seems that a small amount corrosive liquid has beaded for a short time on the coin, upsetting the patina at this point.
