Hi all, I've just signed up today to try get some info on a coin I have found in my late fathers belongings. It's a 1915 Avstriae imperator coin. It also says HVNGAR BOHEM FRANC IOS IDG on it. It looks like it was a gold colour at some point but now is a bronze colour. I was going to sell it but I dont have any info on it or the value(if any)It is worn and has like some tarnished marks on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Pics please! This is what I can tell tho: Its from Austria - Hungary. If its gold it is DEFINITELY a reproduction. It might be a ducat.

Interesting.... DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR THIS: THE FOLLOWING IS SPECULATION
It is most likely a copper copy of a Austro-Hungarian 1 or 4 Ducat coin. If you could, do you mind posting the weight of the coin? Also, there is a tiny chance that your coin is a pattern. This means the coin was made in copper to be presented to an audience (I.E. The Austrian Kaiser) and then released into circulation.
Whichever one, good luck!

Hi, it weighs 11g and measures approx 40mm in diameter. Do you think it is worth selling (Ebay, etc)or just putting back in the loft. Knowing my luck it will be worth 10p..... Thank you for your help so far.

Ok,well sadly heres the news: Your coin is in fact a copy of a repropduction :P of a 1915 Austro-Hungarian 4 Ducat gold coin. Since a real one wieghs 14 grams, yours doesn't cut it. If I were you I would just stick it in a 2 by 2 and just let it sit to show to generations past. Your Welcome, tzarmarko

Typical. Thought it was too good to be true. Might just check my scales and see if they are weighing short of 3g;)Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it.

, tleeds! It'll need a 2.5" crown holder. Very thin coin IIRC. There were official restrikes in gold dated 1915 to get around US date requirements before 1974.

So does that mean it wasn't made in 1915 but around 1974 so definately not worth anything

, tleeds! The official gold restrikes were made in the mid-1960s. The copy could have been made any time after 1915, but it's a fake, regardless.
