I "sold" an item last Wednesday to a member with 0 rating, I hate doing this and if I had seen it earlier, probably would have removed his bid.

Surprised that he stills hasn't paid? Not really.

I check out his bid history, he joined on 4/22, and since then has bid and won over 120 items. Brand new buyer bidding on 120+ items in the first 5 days?

A lot of members give positive feedback once the buyer has paid, and since he is still a 0 I'm going with him not paying for anything yet.

Since we as sellers can't report him until his 7 days have passed, he can basically go and bid on whatever he wants for 7 days, not pay, then have his account cancelled by him or ebay.

Competitor bidding up others auctions so they flock to his? Someone with too much time on their hand?

I would have thought that maybe just maybe, ebay would have some rules to prevent this, like...oh I don't know, maybe put a limit on the amount of items buyers can bid on with a 0 rating?

Just once throw the sellers a bone ebay, ONE TIME!
We all acknowledge that ebay already knows we as sellers have nowhere else to go and sell, but by not taking care of sellers at all, once there is another outlet they're going to be in huge trouble.

Now, he's also selling high end cards with pics and descriptions he took from someone else's auction. He didn't even bother taking out the other sellers name.

Good job ebay, stop worrying about ANACS and ICG and make some basic changes that will eliminate a whole lot of fraud on your site.

It does seem crazy that someone would bid on a lot of stuff and never pay for it. BidStart (originally called StampWants) is an alternative to ebay. They specialize in collectibles. I very often find what I'm looking for there. They have a coin section, but the selection is still weak. I don't know if their coin section will ever compete with ebay, but their stamp selection is certainly competitive and the site admin personally weeds out bad apples like the one you experienced on ebay. Delcampe is another venue, but I've not had any luck there, personally. I am mostly a buyer. Occasionally I will sell a few duplicates, but that's rare.

@akane17,

You can set rules up that X numbers rating bidders can't bid on your item unless they email you first.

Thanks guys, I understand that mac, and I'm the idiot who figures everyone has to start somewhere so why not give them a chance. Why should someone new be penalized for being new, they could potentially become my best customer.

But ebay should not be letting a brand new member bid on THAT many items and not raise a flag.
If this kind of bidding doesn't raise a flag, what does it take?

akane17,
ebay sellers can issue a unpaid item after 4 days, then buyer has 4 days to pay.
also, there is the Block Bidder/Buyer List, but this would just prevent Bidder on future items.
I have had same problem on a new member with 0 rating, he even setup the new ebay account with address of back alley/empty lot.
Best way I found is to setup Listing with Buy It Now and the Immediate Payments option! they cannot win/buy it unless it is paid...
Buy It Now = PAY It Now with Immediate Payments option!

ebay won't do anything because these bids elevate the final bid amount which equals more revenue in fees that ebay and Paypal will get in the end.

Just a run-of-the-mill troll. We nuke a couple a day here.

Report him for one of his auctions, akane17. Mention the stolen info, and also mention in passing his bidding record. Use the link from this forum - it goes straight to the coin people on ebay. I bet he goes away.
