The Fed. ordered 300,000,000 Washington dollar coins from the mint. The law states that 1/3 of the dollar production must be Sackies. Thats 150,000,000 Sackies, more than the last 5 years mintage combined. And this is just the first of at least 40 President coins. What are we going to do with Billions of Sackie dollar coins?

Well right now I'm working on collecting about 20,000 of them. This summer, I'm pouring a concrete patio and I thought it would be cool to use the sackies as flooring material. A golden carpet of sackies. The ones that I don't use, I'll just turn back in to the bank.

I agree...spend them. After so long in circulation they aren't worthwhile to collect...they just don't hold up to the abuse of pocket change. Perhaps they could just mint them for collectors but, nah that's not the plan, or so it seems.

Don't forget, they're coming out with 4 Presidential dollars per year, so that'll be a total of 600,000,000 Sacs this year, if I understand this all correctly. I was watching one of those home shopping shows the other night, and they were hyping the Presidential dollars BIG TIME, about how rare they're going to be, etc. Then they went on to sets of Sacs. Frankly, I'm shocked that they didn't promote the fact that only a mere 1/3 of all new dollars minted will be Sacs. That's rarity, folks! Better get on the autoship program now to insure you get yours reserved for the coming years. Your children and grandchildren will thank you for acting NOW! Phone lines are open, don't be shy!!!

Like I said...The 150,000,000 is only from the first of at least 40 president dollar coins.
I'm sure the mintages of the others will vary but we're still going to end up with Billions of unused Sackies.

OMG!!! Those figures are horrible! I figured the up-comming sacs would be a limited, possibly even a key to the series with possibly low mintage figures. Well, so much for that idea.
