Just got this note today. Nice 5000 Drachma from 1942. It's a french printing I think - P119 b.

The thing that leaves me scratching my head is how this could get here from Greece, registered, while I'm still waiting on a note from Pennsylvania. Oh well.

That's a nice note Dave, but it would be news to me if it were French. I've never seen that mentioned.

Hmm. You're very right Dave M. Pardon my faux pas. I should've checked first. I haven't the foggiest idea where I even got the idea that it was French printed, but somehow I did. My mind is slipping I guess. Thanks for clearing that up.

the design of the note is great Dave L - makes a lot of modern day notes look very poor in comparison

Isn't that statue currently at the Louvre? Could that be the French connection?

The statue is Nike the goddess of victory.

These notes were printed in Germany during WWII.
