Can anyone tell me what I'm seeing here. I noticed a difference between theswe two ears and both are 2006.

The bottom pic looks a little stronger of a hit when minted. that is a total guess . just what it looks like to me.hopefully someone more knowledgeable will give some feed back !!

When I observed the 2 coins the only thing I could think of is the first one is an EDS and the second one is a LDS.

The inside of the ear is a low point on the relief and a high point on the die, so sometimes it shows signs of die polishing. That's might be part of what you're seeing here.
