Jez, you STOLE that coin for $30! He must have thought it was a 64 because that's the CDN price for a 64. In 65 is jumps to $60-70. If he has more like that at that price, buy them ALL. I rarely see nice, red MS 1909 plains anywhere.....when I do, the dealers price them accordingly because they are tough to find.

This is how I would grade it:

Luster................................66+
Hairline Scratches............68+
Contact Marks...................66-67
Spotting.............................63-65
Environmental Damage....64+
Strike.................................67+
Planchet Problems...........67+

Grade: MS-65-RD Possibly 66

That carbon Spot 9 times out of 10 will continue to slowly grow. They detract from eye appeal and thus the value.
Cleaning it would probably further detract from the value of the coin.

Value:
MS-65-RD $190-250
MS-66-RD $350-600

Looks like you got it at a MS-63 price.
