I picked this one up on ebay last night. It was advertised as a Type 2, and from the pictures looks to have the diagnostic clues such as the incuse islands and more southwardly-pointing Florida. From pictures it also looked to be in good shape, possibly a decent BU (although there are certainly some hits), so I couldn't turn down the seemingly low But-It-Now price and took a gamble. I can't wait until it arrives.

So what do you all think? Did I snag a Type 2? Also, what would you guess for grade?

Thanks!

I believe it is. If you take a close up of STATES I can tell you if it's a March or August release.

It's a 72P Type 2!

You can also look at the O in Dollar- if you see a die dot in the middle of it, it'the August Release.

Here is an excellent article on the 2 1972p Type 2 ike's and what die markers to look for.

Very nice. And no one wants to take a stab at the grade?

It looks like it has a slight amount of wear by the ear, on the obverse. There is a horizontal section of it. Or it could be a reflection? Do you see what I mean? It is somewhere around AU-58 to MS-60, so you can tell in person better than we can.

there is a separate part of this forum for grading only, I would ask an admin to move it for you.

I do not even like to grade my own.

The post is in this forum since the variety is the primary focus; the grade request is secondary. However, I will abide by any requests from the OP.

I figured that he would get a quick response there as his primary question has been answered, maybe you could copy it there for him?

I can only move, not copy.

If bkprewitt is satisfied with the comments on variety, I will happily move it for him.

Thanks for the suggestion to move to the grading forum. No objections to moving it there.

certainly looks AU-maybe XF. The photo doesn't really have all of the necessary information to judge.
