Came across these two in a box earlier. They're both a little dinged up so it's tough to tell if it's just wear or a true no FG.

Coin 1:

1972-No-FG?

Coin 2:

1972-No-FG?

Are there many other years of No FG?
heard of 1982 No FG.
fyi...it would be so easy to use a dremel tool and buff away the FG
that's why I would never buy a 1922 No D cent

They are over polished dies. They can be found all years. But if you look with a microscope you can usually still see some of the devices there. They didn't forget to put them there, it is part of the design that is pasted down from the master.
