When you are flippin silver bullion an numismatic coins, most key is the buy back in. If you buy new stock that is valued lesser then what you just sold via weight or quality, you just took a step or two backwards eh. Sometimes that is un avoidable, when one has to put some toward bills as well, which happens with me all to often... I already worked out a deal with TBK, one of my favs from CCF bar none, on adding a quarter oz. Platinum MS-70 key date 2007, an he gave me a great deal on it, as that coin is not growing on trees with that grade an year. The one or two others I saw on ebay were all listed listed from mid 6's maybe all the way up to 775 or so. So, that coin represents my collection for now atleast lol. I had not planned on buying any platinum anytime soon, but I said what the heck, lets get some platinum an gold with a little from each flip an stash it away. Why, because it is there, just like a mountain, lol.... Now try an get 45 oz. of silver replaced asap, an here is 30 oz. thus far.... Got a real solid deal on these at just under 40 per oz., which is not bad for Engelhard old pours on ebay. The lowest I saw the 20 oz was 1200 alone, and as high as close to 2 grand, way high an dreaming I figure those sellers are.... Edited by Silverhawk74 05/05/2012 12:54 pm

Great question Amaths, I have never owned but 1 miere oz. of Engelhard silver thus far an that was just an old 1982 prospector round.....
I know very littel about them, other then the hard core silver guys seem to really go after an collect them....
I am assuming the bull head is the little design in front of the E in Engelhard?

Dude, your lucky you are my friend, I wanted to snipe you on the Engels bad. I think you turned a bunch of good coins into a couple great pieces. Regardless of price of the PM's they contain we know they ain't making anymore like these. Great buys homie

Hey thanks TBK, that would have been all good if you had of an your every right to bid, I just would have hunted for something as equally nice. I will end up selling them to you in all likelihood anyhow, just consider my safe your secondary holdings, lol...
I got real lucky as I was way bored yesterday, an went into a hunt, where I try many different word searches, like old pour, old Engelhards etc., while setting the price range in the area I was looking to spend so as to cut out 27 pages of junk I didn't want to scan through, an stumbled on to them when they were setting at a grand with 22 hours left. I was like this is gonna end early Sat afternoon, an with many in panic mode with the bad market pull backs this week, maybe I can get it just under 1200, an it panned out....

Hawk, man, I love to watch your PM trades! I've never ever had the opportunity to buy platinum bullion and that $25 MS-70 looks like a great pick up. The old pour bars? What can you say...they rock. It takes a lot of knowledge and skill to find these deals. Nicely done.

Thanks CW, I have much too learn yet, an far from making anything substantial yet as far as comparison to what some of these 1000 oz. club guys have accomplished....
We all do what we can with what we got an hopefully all of us will get to check in that elite club one day still yet....
I would say I have a novice concept after about two years of what things are worth give or take a few bucks either way, but its funny that feeling you get as you keep searching, reading, an learning, when you think back how dumb you were six months earlier an that never ends, for me personally at least....
My dad always has preached until he was blue in the face..."Get with someone successful already in any particular field an do EXACTLY what they are doing.", an much of anything I have attempted to do I learned or picked up from WAY wiser an more experienced people then myself right here on this forum....

anyone seen or have a 1/2 oz Engelhard BAR, Not the pour type shown above. Looks just like the 1oz Engelhard BAR with E on top, but it is 1/2 oz Engelhard BAR. I like to collect the Under 1 oz Engelhard sizes!

I don't know TBK, may take 3 quarters of an oz. of platinum to pry that bad boy loose, rof .... The way the market is falling, platinum is looking way better possession to have for the time then silver, of course things all ways changing an rarely ever staying the same. Not that plat is not taking a bath as well, but go look on ebay an try an find a nice proof platinum for quarter oz. for 400 even, an GOOD LUCK with that, lol. My point being most with platinum sell it more so via its rarity then they do the spot price it seems....

Little bit more silver in another one of these great old Academy pours. This one again poured by this guy here . My buddy Darrick has one just like it.... I also felt with gold dipping just under 1600, now was the time to jump on some gold once again for a little diversity since I have 36 nice oz. of silver again just after selling everything, an the platinum quarter oz.. I got this 1988 Olympic gold proof a design I have always been very fond of.... You can get it in proof set form with a silver dollar listed at 430 lowest on ebay, not bad.... I got just the gold proof right at 400, esp with the ebay bucks figured in.... At .24187 gold content, or just shy of a quarter oz., these size US style gold make sense to me.... Also the 1986 Liberty 5 dollar piece is most stunning proof design, esp with the close to spot price.... The Jamestown 2007 400th year anniversary is a nice one as well, again .24187 like the two fore mentioned, an right now can be found under 400.... Right now I see a chance to get right at an oz. right at spot in four great coins or even a bit less, if one searches a bit I figure...
