I have several slabbed coins over a 100 years old that have a few minor dings or scratches. Should TPG's take this into consideration and allow some surface damage like a couple of dings or one minor scratch given their age? I know that's what the whole GENUINE thing is and I appreciate it, but a grade would be appreciated.

What are they doing that you wish they'd change? The purpose of slobbing is to allow sight unseen trading. Once a coin has damage (scratches, cleaned, a hole, whatever), it is no longer a nice pigeonholed vf or xf and so on.

Coming from another angle, how many scratches should be allowed on a mint LP album? Then how many are added per ten years of age? The answer to both is "none". Grade is a function of condition, and doesn't change with age.
