Thanks Phil, Sure. Also found a 1966 with a lamination on the obverse the same day but is less dramatic then the 1959.

Nice delamination John. It is one of the most extreme I've seen, what with it being in two different areas on one side.

Is a lamination considered a mint error and only damage if the lamination is removed post mint (PMD?)

Ahh man , thats really a neat one you found there John1 -!!

Im curious as well how they view them , is it a PMD error ? I've done alittle research in them , but it didnt fully explain how its labeled other then a "lamination error" .. I always put them aside as I come acrossed them (altho I'm holding very minor peeling in comparison to this :-) .. )

Thanks for updating your post with the photo and again for sharing your find :) .. (me and papatony just picked up a 25$ brick of pennies to look over this week .. seems my morgan addiction fell back a peg haha ) .

Cant wait to see whatelse you find buddy >!!

Best of luck on your Hunting/Searching ..

A lamination/de-lamination is a mint error caused by a contamination in the alloy mix. If the lamination area is missing it is a de-lamination and still an error.

I only use PCGS and what they say is that they will not holder it due to "potential for sealing damage", but say nothing that I could find on how its classified.

Lamination is not PMD nor a mint error, it is a planchet error. The lamination is there before the minting begins.
