This ebay item looks like a common, midgrade type coin that's been bid about ten times its worth, and the auction has a few hours to go! What am I not seeing?

I don't know either, but if it were not damaged on both sides as this one is, I would put at around $22-$29 tops.

Thats AU money right there. And that is a VF coin...reckless bidding. Good for the seller.

How do they get bidders on this kind of listing? There is a sucker born every minute.

I think the draw might be the "civil war battlefield relic"--but they decline to say where it's found?

The coin could well have been on a battlefield as Miss Liberty was somehow wounded above her left breast; perhaps, Gettysburg?. IMHO, this is a $12 coin as such, being about half of retail. I've a strong feeling that we'll be seeing more battle-scarred coins on ebay now!!

I can't understand how this coin went from $20 to $79 to $163! Good for him, though. That's probably a really cool feeling to get a $150 for, well, nothing!

That is amazing some one would pay that much for it. I think they thought it was the one without the arrows at the date, since that one is worth a lot more at that grade.

Your all missing the possibility that it was once held by General Grant or even Lincoln. If so, their DNA could still be on the coin and sometime in the future, could be used to make a new one.
