Freed from its plastic PCGS AU58 prison, this ten cent piece was purchased at the recent Sarasota, Florida coin show and is destined for my Dansco Canadian type album.   |

Nice coin, it's hard to see any wear on it.
I've always had difficulty grading toned coins is there a secret to it?

Bright light and a quality loop are essential for all grading.. Triple hasting lens are what I like the best.. I'll add a dark one or 2 of mine in the Grading Forum here..See what you 'can or cannot' see in them.. One might be easier than the other.. Remember........ You're trying to read the partially hidden luster and it's also nice to confer with a few other people on the very dark ones.. (my opinion) |

Thanks for the comments and compliments everyone. I looked at hundreds of coins at that show - this was the only piece that I took home with me. It's been slim pickings as of late, so if I see a nice coin I pull the trigger and don't look back....

I bought this yesterday for $260. It's a very nice mahogany box display cabinet and even a nice leather folder with cards describing all the coins. There are 25 commemorative Canadian Silver dollars: 17 X 50% silver 8 X 80% silver All are in UNC condition or possibly MS but I am not very skilled at grading and to be honest I just bought them yesterday and haven't had a chance to look closely at each one.       |
