Well , This guy caught a bone here . Would like opinions from a few of you guys just to confirm what I'm seeing and what I've compared it to seems to be a big ole GREEN light to it being a proper BroadStrike . ------- -------------

That's a broadstrike alright. A lot of zinc showing. I don't know if putting it in an air-tight would slow down the possible zinc rot or not. John1

That's a dandy of a broad-strike. I'd examine it carefully to see if it's been double struck as well.

Thanks guys ,
But I was curious about the "ZINC" showing and what would be best to do to avoid it turning nasty .. I slapped it into an AIR-TIT since I had a few floating around , but will that do the trick you think ?

I think I read that Bad Thads Verdi-Care can slow the zinc rot. John1

A rincse in acetone would probably eliminate any contaminants on the coin...nice find !

I was alil worried about dipping in Acetone since the zinc is exposed , wasnt sure how that would react to it ... Not much else on the coin , pretty clean .. Just the "Zinc poo" is visible ... Going to look into the Verdi-care that John1 Mentioned just to see how well that may hold off any further rotting .. Thanks for the insight Fellas .. Happy with this weeks finds thats for sure .. had a couple nice finds ..

I'd like to hear BadThad's opinion on VerdiCare WRT exposed zinc. At a minimum, I think the general advice of keeping the coin from humidity and moisture goes double for cents with exposed zinc. You'll have to be careful with it, but I don't think deterioration is inevitable.

acetone will knock out all the moisture, contaminants and the luster it has left also. a light coat of vasiline might keep the oxygen away thus stopping the oxidation progress .. just my idea
