Quote: It's nice to see "Two Old Goats" hanging-out together!! Another fairly thrifty-buy ... honestly, I am trying my best to refrain from spending major-cash, while I'm still "scratching that itch" and allowing myself to collect some coins ... => so, I think today's purchase is a pleasant winner/compromise (although I admit that the obverse is a bit worn, I think that the reverse more than makes-up for it!!?) Philip V AE20Date: 221-179 BC Diameter: 20.5 mm Weight: 7.1 grams Obverse: Head of Herakles covered with lion's skin Reverse: Two goats kneeling References: SNG Copenhagen 1250

$65 bucks, delivered ... Sure, maybe it's not an amazing deal, but it is certainly right inside my wheel-house!! Example => should we go out for dinner tonight, or should we BBQ and I can buy myself a 2200 year old coin? => "Honey, your steak is ready!!" ... everybody wins!!

Steve, that's an interesting coin--I have not seen the two goats before.

Yah, I love the animal coins, so when I saw the two goats, it was => Bazinga!!
Note => I also went onto "wildwinds" and searched for similar coins, but I only found "2" (that alone, made me think my coin kinda rocked!!) ...
=> plus, both of the coin's prices gave me a good idea that I was in the ball-park on this coin's price, so ... => Shabammm => locked and loaded, I pulled the trigger!

... plus, I thought it was kinda cool that the exergue-image looked like it was giving me the finger!

Be careful with those goats. Within 10 years of the death of Philip V, the autonomous city of Thessalonica issued this with butting goats. Who knows how long yours will stay peaceful.

dougsmit => that is a very cool coin ... it would look very nice, sitting next to my goat coin!! sel => I am about to take my wife out for a fancy Mother's day brunch (then afterwards, we're gonna walk our two dogs beside the river ... the sun is shining, so it should be a wonderful morning) ... => later this afternoon, I'll try to find her something nice as a Mother's Day treat (Note: we don't actually have any "human" children, so the pressure is kinda low) ... but thanks for the heads-up that I was being a tad selfish!!
