This is one I recently got back, it represents both of two collections I passionately pursue: 1) gem business strike nickel dollars, and 2) nickel dollar error coins. The more I look at this coin, the more I love it, and since the 28 days of dollars stops in 1967, I thought I would share it here. You sure don't see many clipped dollars! In the 44 years since the first nickel dollar until the end in 1987, I personally have owned 2 clippers. One I still have is a triple clip 1982 Voyaguer and the other was a Constitution that was about the same as your pic! Another "GEM" I still have somewhere is an incomplete planchet clipped 1966 Silver dollar that is quite dramatic.Yours is a very NICE coin!! Question though with PCGS calling this a 2 per cent clip............hmm.. that makes this a 98 cent US nickel dollar!! Couldn't resist!! !!

Now that is cool SPP, and since dollars seem to be harder and harder to get, that is impressive.
Where on earth does one find that sort of clipped silver dollar...?
Always liked silver and nickel dollars and 50 cent pieces, but not too many people on this forum get into it to much.

Very nice. I finally decided what it is about errors that makes them so special. You can show them to almost anyone, with the story of how they came to be and the person will be interested. Cookie cutters in the mint?

54dollarcoin, should you ever decide to retire from the coin business someday, please remember that I would be a buyer of any nickel dollar error or treasure that you may have squirreled away.

coincollect1, the short answer is from a friend, who knew I was crazy about nickel dollar errors. He had picked it up at a Torex auction, probably more than a decade ago.

@SPP I will try and dig out that triple clip from one of the safes it is hidden in and show some pix. The incomplete planchet clip 1966 will be ready for the "days of Dollars". BTW even my dear mother is for sale if the price is right

54dollarcoin, I have two triple clips, one is a 1977 and the other is a 1982 Constitution. Your voyageur triple clip would make a nice addition to my set. Here is my 1977; PCGS graded this one MS-63. I still need to photograph my 1982 Constitution clip properly. It was shown here by its previous owner.
