I am trying to look for a nice 31s lincoln to fit into my set and all my 1930+ are GEM BU condition, so it would look awkward to get one in there that was really brown.

If you guys see any others for a good price or are selling any yourselves, please send me a message!!

Thanks

I don't like the pictures at all, it could have been polished. The reverse looks too mirror like and less like original mint luster. There's a reason this coin is not already in a slab.

UGH! lol I just cannot find a good 31S for the price. My local coin shop had a crappy example of one. I am determined!

I would try to get this date slabbed. Even if your gonna break it out for an album. What is your price range if you don't mind me asking?

BadThad,

I was thinking the exact same thing. It looks like it may have been polished a bit. And you are right, if you have such a high grade on a key date, why wouldn't it be slabbed already?

Basically for Key dates I want to stay under 175 and for semi keys I would like to stay under 50. I'm trying to make this album with somewhat of a price budget and also make it frame worthy and display worthy. I dont just want a bunch or crappy G and VG lincoln wheats in the earlier dates. If this takes me forever to fill, then I will wait. I am a picky collector, but I am seeking help from you guys and trying to learn all at the same time. Maybe I can help you guys out with something in the future!

You should be able to get a nice MS RD/RB slabbed for around $150 if your patient.

Most of the surviving 31-S's don't look that great because of the way Sharlack stored them. He hoarded over 200,000 of the 833,000 minted. This coin looks "beautiful" and has only 15 bids. The NGC one has 47+ bids and it can't really be seen in detail with the provided photos. That should be a red flag to you. Bad Thad is likely right, as is usually the case about Lincolns.

Also, look at this other auction from the seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1825-GEM-BU...em3a74348243

Congrats! You got a good price, for slightly under your budget.

Post some pictures when the coin arrives.

You're lucky I found this post late, you might have had some competition on that one! Congrats on the great buy!
