There isn't much going on today and I was digging through some of my cleaned coins and I ran across my wolf and twins coin that I posted a couple months ago. I don't think I posted a good after pic but seeing that nice coin posted yesterday and being nice and sunny out I took a better pic in sunlight with my phone, I miss my camera. Also posted below is my anonymous Byzantine. After I saw stevex6's coin I decided to go ahead and pull off the paint that was on my coin and I am glad they painted it because it's still got face details, but its a wierd looking red color.

At first I really liked my wolf and twins coin but now I prefer a little dirt on my coins but not so much paint.

Here is the before and after of the VRBS ROMA it's lightened up a little and looks kinda dry now.

Which image is truer? The first image looks good, while the last image looks very dark. I still don't own one of these, and you have a nice one you obtained from an uncleaned lot. I never got anything worthwhile like this from unclean lots. Good on ya.

Dramatic before/after on the VRBS ROMA!
Despite the different types of dirt/verdigris the result looks very even and clean.

The first image at top of page is how the coin Looks, almost like an old cent. The bottom picture was taken after the first clean and the color was a bit darker but not as dark as the picture looks,

If the color of the coin looks like a dirty penny, try some Deller's Darkener on it. I've used Deller's on some personal coins with fairly dramatic results. It won't replace the patina, but the coin will look more aged.
