Most dealers are telling me that the market for them is very soft yet when you try to buy the fill in coins price's are still fairly high when you are looking for MS-64 or better either through dealers or E-bay what say you the mass's.
Am I being lead astray here or has the market for them been over saturated with coins.
Or can it just be that no one wants to buy my set at the moment and are only offering 30-45% value from the Charlton catalogue ( which is what I am thinking )ship

The Charlton guide is just that.....a guide. It is not the price tag, more like an idea of value. When a dealer goes to sell them, they are going to try and get that value out of them, and in many cases will have to settle for less.
I would not expect to get the guide price from any dealer. 50% guide price is probably whatthey will offer you as they need to make money on the coins, otherwise there is no point in them buying them. The coins will also unlikely sell right away, and as a result the dealer's money will be tied up in inventory.....again making the coins worth less to them.

Generally, for better grades, my take is:

1950's fairly scarce
1960's plentiful
1970's some denominations didn't get much love, so can be scarce
1980's generally scarce
1990's plentiful
2000's plentiful

I should have mentioned that all coins have been ICCS certified and an example would be 1963 MS-65 50 cent piece which is valued by Charlton at $250.00 ( not that I would expect to get that from a dealer ) was offered only $75.00 for it. Seems very low ball to me and other ( COINS ) were all like that also.SHIP

ship, you should have better luck on ebay. If they are all ICCS certified, then ebay buyers will feel confident in what they are bidding on. You may or may not get the Charlton value for them (in some cases you may get more), but more than likely you will get more than your dealer is offering you.

Best of luck.

Can't be said often enough....DON'T use Charlton's as a price guide....you're certain to be disappointed when it comes time to sell.
1963 MS65 50cent trends at about $100,the dealers offer of $75 is very reasonable and you are unlikely to get more from another dealer.
While you're at the dealer, grab a copy of Canadian Coin News, much much better than Charlton's as a price guide.
