The only time I get upset is when something sells out and the only way I can get is to pay 3 triple because people are looking to make a buck

I buy them because I like them, not for their future value. If my kids get some of the money I paid back after I'm gone, that's just a bonus! Also, that's probably all there'll be for their inheritance as I'll have spent everything else on coins!

Toronto1,

You've obviously got something against the RCM - we get it.

For Pete's sake... just pick a greater cause, something that can actually better yourself and maybe provide some benefit to others along the way.
Rest in Peace

Buying from the Mint isn't about 'loosing money'. For yourself, if you buy a car, do you go back to dealer after a year and say "I want some money back, my car depreciated!"? of course not. You buy a coin because it's part of your collection/hobby. If it appreciates - goes up in value - bonus. if it depreciates, that's life. I buy from the mint for myself, my daughter, and my nieces. I have yet to buy 'on spec' of making money, though, I've been tempted, I feel it is wrong unless you are in the business (ie brick and mortar establishment) of selling coins. (my humble opinion) That is not to say that one day, if times get tough, I may need to sell off - or just to subsidize my retirement many years from now.

I WISH my cars would only depreciated as much as my RCM granny bait (Grandpa in my case) coins do.
Cars and motorbikes are far worse addiction and loss for me
I find all the odd ball coins and sets to be about fun and art not money
And I still love the loon, anything with a loon on it that RCM has made I have at least one of them in all finishes, for me its exiting waiting for the next one to come out.
