Well really The Redish brown ink Is one way to tell, the othre is the way the note was printed when you look at the image under magnification you will see, a perfect series of dots and lines which make up the picture. (There is an Art tyle I studied in school) but cant remmeber the name of it well any way for a crude example you will see ----- or ..... but on some counterfeit pieces you will see ---~--~. I will try to find a link to a photo I have one in My book but cant Shrink down the file size to be able to post it.

Hello - I'm seeking notes from Hatfield or Lansdale National Banks from Pennsylvania. A google search led me to this thread which had recent posts on such notes; however, I wanted to check what you may have now.. Please post here or email me -

THanks

There is actually a much better list of CSA copies here:

http://www.crutchwilliams.com/BogusCSA_RoTx.html

The vast majority of copies of CSA, state or obsolete copies can be detected by looking for either of two telltale signs.

First, many are printed on artificially and evenly aged brownish stiff paper, often with a wavy texture. Second, these, as well as others copies printed on other types of paper, nearly always have printed signatures, dates and/or serial numbers. Look closely at the written portions to see if they are actually written rather than printed. The color of the ink should be slightly to very different than the printed portions of the note.

My 2 notes arrived today and I have checked the listing of copies and mine are not on.

I managed to get a $19 and a $50 note dated in Richmond 17th February, 1864.

Now I think I need to expand and obtain some more....
