sellitstore, Glad to see you over from the CU Currency forum. Do you happen to have a Merchants and Farmers National Bank of Carthage,Tx. Any census? Last I could find, sold at Heritage Auction several years ago for around $4K,not exactly sure on denomination, but I think the price I list is right, been awhile since I looked it up.It was a nice looking note.I have a picture of it saved somewhere,if I can find it. Anyway, welcome to these boards. RW

Hi Coffeecup, Thanks for the welcome. Unfortunately I don't have many images or current census info for National Bank notes. Obsolete currency, from the period before nationals, is my speciality.
The obsolete notes pictured here are all printers proofs. For most of these there are anywhere from 1-20 known. These were prepared by the private bank note companies for approval by the banks or archival record purposes. Prices for B&W notes usually range from $200-$500, while the color notes generally bring $300-$2000. Many pretty signed and issued notes range from $20-$100. There are perhaps 1000 or more different inexpensive obsoletes available in this lower price range. "Common" obsolete notes generally have anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand remaining surviving examples. Not many of these had more than 5000-10,000 originally printed, and the usual quantity printed was in the hundreds to low thousands. Some are still around in quantity but many different issues have only a few surviving examples. A rarity 7 (1-5 known) note from a less collected state, like Pennsylvania might only be worth $200-$300 while a note of the same rarity from Wisconsin might bring ten times that amount.

Very nice proofs, especially the Bank of Southern Illinois. Do you have any of those notes(P41) that were issued or any others from the southern Illinois area?

Yes, I do have other Southern IL notes but the moderator of this board won't let me post them directly since they are hosted on my website. There is no link from my photos to anywhere else on my website but that doesn't seem to matter. I have been warned twice that I have violated the rules, which seems pretty unfair since I haven't tried to sell anything and feel that I have been contributing information with my posts. Apparently someone here doesn't agree and reported me. They won't let me post links to them either. I need to upload them to this site which is cumbersome and can only be done one at a time. So, I'll wait until I have 50+ posts before posting any more pictures.

Sellitstore, Since you seem to like bucking the system, and bringing this out in the open, let's do it right. Here is why your domain is blacklisted right now.
- Within 2 days of joining it was perfectly clear that the only reason you joined was to plaster your business links all over the forum. The entire staff noticed it, not just me. Links were removed and a warning was sent. Argumentative reply was received from you.
- Within 5 days of joining, we received complaints from members receiving emails through the forum from you promoting your business. Now, did you honestly think that if you weren't allowed to post your business on the forum that resorting to spam emails would be acceptable? Warning was sent with no response from you.
- Since, you have tried to sneak your business link in several posts which I have edited. I am not a babysitter, so I instructed the forum software to do it instead. You're images being broken is a side effect of this action.
The only reason you have not been banned permanently yet is because you have the potential to be a tremendous member with all the knowledge you have. However, breaking the rules will not be tolerated from anyone.
