Do circulated star notes have any value over and above their face value. I have been pulling them from circulation and getting them in trades for years as a way of saving some pennies for a rainy day. I have a couple of hundred dollars worth stashed away mostly in dollar bills. Is it worth while doing anything other than spending them..
Thanks for your help

Well there are certain Series that are worth more and some that are not it all depends on year and condition sorry for the vauge answer.
For example a 1969 $1.00 Star from New york in Cu is roughly only worth about $4.00
But a 1988 $1.00 Star from Atlanta in CU is woth about $175.00 and a 1988-A $1.00 Star from NEW YORK in VF IS $250.00 and In CU is $1200.00 (WEB FED) and 1988-A Atlanta Star in Vf is About $450.00 and $900.00 In CU. The point is The average Star note is Not worth all that much More than the VArage Note even in CU But there are exception's. I hope This Helps If You HAve any more questions , Please Feel free to email me, And I will try to help

All we really need is the denomination, the year, the letter by the year (if any), and the serial number. Those other numbers you are listing don't really mean much, unless it's a 1988 web fed note, like scoutjim said. Also, we need the district letter (the black seal letter on the left. But I guess you already told us the bank, so your good on that.
I would spend all the 20's and 5's, unless they are CU. Keep the 1's for a rainy day. No one will pay anything for circulated large faced new bills. However, keep all 2004 $10 series notes (the yellowish ones) because they are worth something. A fine grade one can be even worth double. I'm only talking about star notes, too. Ty

Thanks Ty I was not really expecting them to be worth anything. They are my major purchase slush fund. I Pull all the star notes I find out of Circulation to save for my major coin purchases. Just checking before I decide to spend them. Thanks again all of you for your time and effort.

Until reading about them here a few days ago I had never heard of a Star Note. This morning I took a $5 out to pay for coffee in the cafeteria - and, wow, it's got a star. From reading this thread I suspect it is not worth much, if anything, beyond face value, but just in case here are the details:
1999 E5 BE21546183* Condition: Lots of folds, no rips, someone has written "95" on it in blue ink
It's kinda cool to be able to notice something unusual on a coin or bill and know what it means. I'm really enjoying learning so much from this forum.

Hey nohope587,
Have you spent those notes yet? I have a question about a few of them. You might have something here.

Hey Richard, These two 2001 G 03816073* 2001 G 03625244* fall into a weird subset of not collecting. There were 4,480,000 star notes printed for district G in 2001. They were printed in 3 runs. G 000 00001 * - G 032 00000 * fw 3,200,000 1 G 032 00001 * - G 038 40000 * fw 640,000 2 G 064 00001 * - G 070 40000 * fw 640,000 3 Even though there were 4 million notes printed altogether run 2 and run 3 only have 640,000 printed in each. I've seen run 1 sell for $5 in mint condition. However run 2 and 3 sell for close to $50 in mint. Long story longer. I would move those two on ebay and scrap the rest. Also do you have any from district H in the 2001 series? That is the key to the series. Great to have in any condition. $50 in VF to $90 in mint. Hope this helps, Michael
