I'm trying to identify this coin for a friend. I hardly know anything about ancients. Then again this might not be an ancient. Shows a five petal flower on one side. I can't see what image is on the other side. Coin weighs 1.9 grams, 14mm diameter at largest point and appears to be copper/bronze. He would like to know the value if possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Compare to this coin of Rhodes from 88 - 43 BC
One side depicts Helios, the other side a rose

Glad to help--another one of these had been posted recently, so it was already familiar.

Judging from the equally-spaced notches and the apparently filed rim, I'd say this poor thing has been prepared for insertion into a piece of jewellery. And not in ancient times, either.

I'm guessing he removed this coin from a piece of jewelry since he is a jeweler. He said he has had it for about 20 years and never new what it is. All of about an hour on CCF and already an ID. Way to go
