Lately it seems that whenever I do a specific search for something on ebay, I scroll down the results page and find more and more auctions that show a coin in a roll that shouldn't be there.

Some examples of "mistake" coins in a roll of Wheat cents will show a Mercury or Barber dime exposed in one end of the roll.

A roll of LMC with a Quarter Eagle on one end.

My favorite misleading roll. One where a 1909 S is on one end and a VDB is showing on the reverse of a Wheat cent on the other end of the roll. The seller is advertising the possibility of having a whole roll of 1909 S VDB cents.

It seems that these auctions have exploded all over ebay. It reminds me of the other once popular ebay auctions that advertised an unsearched Ancient lot with the possibility of finding gold. Then they would list "customers who found gold" and their cheerful responses.

Here is one auction that shows what I am talking about.

Yeah, these types of listings are common as dirt on ebay, and often derided here. The listing you linked to is far better than most, since he doesn't claim the rolls are unsearched. Still significantly overpriced, but not dishonest.

I think I missed previous discussions about this topic. I feel as if I just read a week old newspaper thinking last weeks news is current.
