I have just listed a few items on ebay yesterday and was about to list a few more today. I am however not able to list any items unless I provide a credit card that ebay may use to covers buyers under their buyer protection policy. What gives? I have to give them a card number and pre authorize payments of up to $2000 at a time. I don't have a credit card that will allow this I dumped all my cards last year. I guess they have just lost another seller. Once the current auctions have closed I will not be able to list again. Why was it OK to list yesterday but not now?

The same thing happened to me. What did I do? I applied for the PayPal debit card, and once I got it in the mail, I added that to the account.
You could always try that.

There was a message sent out not too long about a new buyer protection update. Gotta love it, can't wait to see how this gets abused. The updated ebay Buyer Protection Policy goes into effect on June 19, 2012: •A provision has been added stipulating that in some cases we may refund part of the cost of an item to the buyer, and receive reimbursement from the seller, to cover differences between the item described and the item actually received, such as items received with small parts missing or minor repairs needed. Buyers may be asked to provide written proof from an authorized third party detailing the cost of such repairs. In these cases, we will not require the buyer to return the item to the seller

Coin repair? Or coin conservation? I think this applies to other items, but if it does apply to collectibles, ebay will lose many sellers of such things.

I guess you should no longer expect to receive what the item sold for. Lots of buyers will claim what they received is not as described, get money back, and still keep the item. It's like having your cake and eating it, too. I may refrain from selling anything on this site ever again until this is reversed. I can't even believe someone thought this was a good idea!

Pretty sure this applies to all sellers, not just power. It doesn't have to be a good idea for ebay to make it a rule. From what I understand, the buyer doesn't even have to contact the seller first, they can just contact ebay and they'll handle it. You may have no say in the matter, they'll just take the money from you.

Wow that's pretty scary how ebay is making it harder and harder for a seller to want to sell there. I think it's time for me to sell off my inventory in the next month before this stupid rule goes into effect.
