Ah, the old J&M&M, before they lost the extra M eh....

Here is a nice old pour rare weight ox., that I would not have bid on even if I would have had the 700 plus required to win it, as it ended at 700. Divide 16 oz., leaving off the meaningless .075 and you get a WHOPPING 43.75 per oz., with silver hangin around $27.50, geeeez. Maybe I should open the shop back up, the bidders are gonna keep pushin them up as they always have, unbelievable.....

Nice bars, Hawk!

I understand Engelhard is not producing any silver bars. But I read somewhere that Johnson Matthey is still pouring 100 oz bars nowadays, besides these new 1 ouncers. Am I correct? How about gold? Platinum? I would like to figure out if their fractional gold bars are collectible or not.

My stackers, well at least you know what I buying from you next.

Great trade for both of us again.

Amaths,

Those are the new bars with consecutive serial numbers, pretty cool.

Interesting to note that Pobox had posted the link with info on the old pour Engelhards, an it seems like it said these old pour 20's have low serial numbers close together, indicating low numbers, of an UNKNOWN pour amount....

Well it may be safe to assume the serial number on the new bar above is 107,697 and the bar I traded TBK has a serial number of what looks like 250,140 which leads me to believe there were at least a quarter million of these guys poured if not more....

If that is all or even just a half million bars, still low numbers from those days an could we assume some have been melted down in the lower bad days of silver?

Love the ripples! I tend to believe that many of them didn't survive the melting.

Here is another 20 ouncer with 5 digits serial sold at a Canadian dealer:

This type is not listed on that ag web. But I assume it is older than the bull logo ones.
