1997 Nickel With Some Copper

Found this today the bottom portion of coin and on the center of building on reverse also has copper showing. also small spots on hair etc.. there are also shallow depressions (not copper) front of face and several spots on reverse. whats going on with this? thanks. 1997-Nickel-With-Some-Copper 1997-Nickel-With-Some-Copper 1997-Nickel-With-Some-Copper 1997-Nickel-With-Some-Copper

Sooo maybe a plating issue? Damage? Lamination? here is another pic to show a better example of what it looks like in natural light.1997-Nickel-With-Some-Copper

Nickels are not plated. This is PMD. Nickels are 75% copper and 25% nickel. Post mint damage can cause the copper to migrate more to the surface giving the copper color.
