Alexzwarenstein Valued Member United States 59 Posts	Posted 05/17/2012 2:50 pm I did not get to posting the obverse of this coin. so this continues from my posting entitled just 1878 Morgan. Your thoughts on whether this is a 7/8 tail-feathers. The answers seem to be pointing to yes. The obverse was requested, but I did not get to it in time for further comment on the posting. Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 05/19/2012 10:33 am there are 3 different 1878 Long nock variations and its hard to tell which one you have here. There is the 1878 B1 Reverse that has a long nock that only has 7 TF, then there is the 7/0 TF variety which can be deceiving to many, then we have the 7/8 TF which is pretty easy to see because you will see at least one part of at least one tail feather under the 7 Tf's. I am really trying not to confuse you but I know I may be doing so with my wording so if you do not understand something please let me know and I will try to break it down further Report this Post to the Staff
Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 05/19/2012 10:47 am after looking at your pictures again please click this link and see if it matches your coin http://www.vamworld.com/1878-P+VAM-83 It looks like the first "1" in the date is high, if it is how it looks in this picture you do not have a 7/8TF you have a 7TF B-1 Reverse variety. I am about 95% sure this is the correct VAM for this particular coin Report this Post to the Staff
