What do you guys think? It is hard to tell from a small photo like that if the coin is cleaned or if that is original luster... but with a return policy, this could be a good buy?

punt for two reasons:

1) if they can't bother to at least align the coin correctly, I can't be bothered to bid.

2) the coin is far too bright and

3) (had to add another) the seller is brand new, 5 feedbacks.

I would pass.

I would actually consider it. There's nothing to me saying its cleaned although it is hard to tell from the photo. The 5 feedbacks doesn't bother me. We all had low feed backs at some point.

yeah the feedback so far is good, and you have to start somewhere. I'd be skeptical if there were no returns. I asked if it was cleaned and he said he didn't know because he inherited the coins, seems like everyone says that.... but he said he could try to take a better picture for me. and as far as not straightening the picture out, that's an honest mistake for some people. if the picture was sideways like that, I bet my grandma wouldn't know how to straighten it out, and she's an honest person. so the photo sideways says nothing to me.

There is a return policy, so if I get it and don't like it I only lose about $2, cause that's how much it will cost me to ship it back. So I'm considering this, hopefully I can see the new pictures soon.

It looks solid for AU and there appears to be remaining luster on the reverse so maybe it hasn't been harshly cleaned. The opening bid would not be much of a bargain for AU-50 but would be pretty good if it's really a problem-free AU-58. With the return policy you might be inconvenienced (but not ripped off) if it doesn't satisfy. If you are OK with that possibility go ahead and take a chance!

AU 50 lists at 135 on CoinWorld. It looks higher to me, 55 at least. Only major drawback being the gash on the chin. I would snag that one.

That's the third time they listed it and they lowered it each time. I was hoping no one would bid so I could work out a deal with them to get it cheaper.

What do you guys think? These are the pictures he sent me. Photos still aren't that great. Could be polished or they could not be. I think i'll take a stab at it unless anyone suspects it is 100% cleaned. It's just hard to tell because a bad photo can make any coin look better or worse.

Still can't tell much, except it looks AU-50 or better for wear. The new photos show even less luster than the previous small ones but that could still be a deficiency of the photos themselves rather than the coin. I can see some loss of detail on the wingtips which I assume is from wear. No hairlines show so maybe cleaning (if any) is limited to a dip. Please post some good photos if you decide to buy. It would be a good learning experience for everyone!

He ended the original listing and relisted it here http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAP...180888116515

He has added better pictures and he upped the starting price to $150.00.

If it hasn't been cleaned and is an AU-58 as it says on the 2x2 then even at $150.00 it is a good buy. Numismedia has it at $162.00 in AU-55 and $222.00 in AU-58

I think he isn't going to get bids because it is labeled Barbera instead of Barber. Wonder why he upped the price. Maybe I'll shoot him an offer if it goes unbid again.
