Or more precisely, what do you penny guys think? Is this a no D, or a worn weak D?

The story behind this coin is kind of interesting. Lets see what the opinions are and I will tell the tale of how this one almost ended up swept away...

I will have to leave this up to the more seasoned collectors and those with better eyesight. In one picture it looks like it may be a weak D, but in another photo I see no D at all. Ironically I just picked up a 1922 no D today. It must be 1922 no D Saturday.

Appears to be a die pair 4. Close examination would be required to determine authenticity.

After doing a little research online, I agree with BadThad. It does appear to be Die Pair #4. A true 1922 no D die pair #2, will exhibit a strong reverse and a weaker obverse. Another thing to look for is the second 2 in 22. It will appear to be stronger than the first 2. The words Trust, especially the first T, will be stronger on the obverse than IN GOD, which will appear rather mushy. The L in Liberty will appear to be hugging the edge of the coin. I hope this helps.

It's a "weak 22" as well as a "weak D"! I have one kind of like this, but I assumed that weakness in the whole design makes it very hard to call and nullifies any (significant) value.

Well, this one is going into ANACS and we shall see. As for where it came from...

I bought a bag of wheaties from the Coin Vault. Something like a one pound bag. I had been going through it a little bit at a time. I finished it up a few weeks ago. While I was going through it, I dropped a few under my desk. I thought I had got all of them. I was vacuming the other day and noticed this one laying there. Almost sucked it up. I picked it up and tossed it on the desk. Last night I was going through the loose coins and finally really looked at it. Imagine my surrise.

So when those guys on Coin Vault say unsearched, they mean it.
