Yes the wire is embedded in the groove.

Very unusual. Never saw a retained wrapped around like that
before. The angles of the bent wire also look alike and are almost
the exact same length. The odds of this happening are way high.
Considering what has to exactly happen during the strike or just up to it actually. Nice keeper.
