If you have an OTC location where you buy gold, silver, collectables, etc, you can easily buy store issued gift cards.

Customer gets $50 gift card, doesn't like the store, too far away, whatever.

You look it up, find the current value, pay half of that.

Use it yourself, re-sell at 75%, or sell on ebay.

There are also Interwebs sights that will buy them.

Rumor: New player to enter this market: Coinstar.

I've been seeing more and more of these types of ads on craigslist lately.

I used to see offers of 35% of the value but with more and more people doing it the percentages are going up to 50-65%, I saw 1 guy who was buying them for 85% of the value(that makes no sense to me).

Seems very unsafe to me especially through craigslist. You buy a $100 gift card to homedepot from someone and before you get to use it, they can use it online.
