They have 2007 P and D Washington dollar coins, BU at $20 for the pair, graded by NGC, and "First Day of Issue" NGC slabs at $40 the pair, plus $25 rolls at $100 the pair, and sealed boxes of D coins (1000 count) for $2,000.

Wrong, they are $99.96 for the roll. That way they can say "for a limited time, we are offering these for less than half of double face value". I heard them say it last night. Talk about a play on words....They insist that these are going to be impossible to find anywhere else, so get em while they are hot. It's just amazing.
My thoughts are that the US Government is getting $.10 on the dollar for every thing that HSN sells, or they would be all over them for this "false advertising". Or at least some sort of cut.
While we have beaten this topic to death, I still like seeing the posts. It continually brings the subject to the forefront of this forum, which allows people that are just visiting, or new collectors, to realize that the shows on TV are a complete rip-off for buying coins.

I used to think SAH would run out of customers paying outrageous prices, but then I remembered the old sayings my Grandpa used to say: "There is a new fool born every minute" and "A fool and his money are soon parted" MM

At this moment they are being sold at their online shop for just under $100 for the P & D rolls combined, total of 50 coins. My (unstated) point was that the coins are available to them a full day before the official release, even slabbed!

The coins were available to the banks Feb 1st but the boxes were marked not to be released until Feb 15th. They have had 2 weeks to play with these coins as long as they don't ship until the 15th.

Nothing more than a HUGE con job and thousands of unsuspecting and unknowledgeable people will get taken to the cleaners every week as long as fraud, false and misleading advertising is permitted by the government and media in this country. You see it on TV, magazines and full page ads in newspapers and every darn one of them are HUGE rip-offs filled with nothing but lies. I used to think the rich could get by with everything but murder but now we know that is included as well!

What a ripoff, we as a community need to pool our resources. Those of us who want to collect these anyway so we can protect each other from shysters like these.

Funny, I read the other threads about the availability of these things. Time and time again CCF members report that none of the banks in their area are carrying them and they aren't going to be used in commerce and they aren't going to be available anywhere. But when someone on tv says the same thing, they are dishonest. I just see that as a little disingenuous.
And Dockwalliper is correct, the coins have been sitting in bank vaults (well, those few that chose to carry them) for a couple of weeks already. The tv shows haven't had access to them any longer than your neighborhood bank. Oh wait, your neighborhood bank isn't interested in providing this service to you at any price--never mind.

Not true in a way. They may be "saying" the same thing, but they are also putting a price on those words, we (the community) are not. Not to mention a very ridiculous, totally unethical price. Regardless of when the coins arrive and where, it is the thought that someone can go to a bank, not necessarily their own bank, or one even close to their house, but they CAN go to a bank and get the coins for one dollar. The people at SHN almost had me believing what they were saying, so I could imagine what the non-collector thinks. Not arguing Texas, just pointing out that we are not putting a price on our words, and they are. JMO of course...

Tomorrow will be interesting for me.
Originally I talked with tellers from three banks and my credit union.
The feedback I received suggested that the Dollar coins would be redily available.
Then as time passed, and I talked with the banks' "higher ups," it became less likely.
At this point, one day before the coins are available, only my credit union manager says there will be coins for me.
So, tomorrow I will make my way to the credit union, and see what happens.

Never use those tv coin ads. They are way over priced and usually try to get the collectors who are unaware of the other avenues available to get the coins
